APPT Seoul Day 3: Busy times ahead
When a tournament is in full swing, it's easy to not think about the next event on the schedule. But with only ten players remaining in the APPT Seoul Main Event, the thoughts of the next tournament are starting to trickle into consciousness.
For most of the PokerStars team here in Seoul it will be straight back to Macau next week for the ACOP Platinum Series IV, which runs from April 17th - 20th. The Platinum Series, costing HK$5,500 to enter, is one of PokerStars LIVE Macau's flagship low buy-in tournaments, which offers players a chance to turn a small investment into life changing money.
Not only is money awarded in the standard way you would expect from a tournament, the top ten players from each of the four ACOP Platinum Series events held in 2014 will play an online multi-table tournament which will award seats into Macau's most prestigious poker tournament - The HK$100,000 Asia Championship of Poker.
Speaking of prestigious tournaments in Macau, the next stop on the Asia Pacific Poker Tour is APPT Macau, which runs from May 14th - 25th. The 12-day festival of poker features 12 tournaments ranging in buy-ins from HK$1,500 up to HK$100,000.
Of course, the highlight of the APPT8 Macau schedule is definitely the HK$25,000 (~US$3,200) Main Event, which is sure to have PokerStars LIVE Macau at the City of Dreams crowded with players.
Over the years, APPT Macau has been one of the biggest tournaments in the region. Past champions of this event include none other than PokerStars Team Online Randy Lew who defeated a field of 575, picking up just under US$500,000. If you want to join Lew as champion of Macau then you can start satelliting and qualifying for APPT Macau from as little as a couple of dollars.
"PokerStars LIVE Macau has been breaking records all year long. Players are telling us that they love these events, and this is demonstrated in the huge number of players that are taking part." said Danny McDonagh, PokerStars Director of Live Poker Events. "MPC20, the Platinum Series III, and Macau Millions have all hit new highs and the team has every reason to believe that this will be the biggest ever APPT Macau as well."
You would think there would maybe be a long break in Macau at this point, but no, from June 26th - 29th the next ACOP Platinum Series takes place, giving a new batch of players another chance at turning small money into massive prize.
It doesn't stop here as PokerStars LIVE Macau continues to relentlessly offer some of the best tournaments in the region as the next edition of the Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon will take place from August 1st - 17th.
Just a few months ago back in January a new record was set for this event when 995 players hit the felt. Buyanjargal Bold was crowned the champion, turning his HK$11,000 into a massive HK$1,492,000 and this August he will be joined by a new Red Dragon champion.
Before any of these tournaments take place, we need to finish the current one and crown our APPT Seoul champion. It's going to be a late night, but it's certainly going to be an exciting one.
