APPT8 Manila: Just around the corner

It's summer time and that means an large menu of options for the poker enthusiast. For those of you in the Far East, here's your reminder that Philippines leg in Season 8 of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour is just around the corner.

Hosted by The Metro Card Club, APPT Manila runs from July 2-7 and features the PHP 50,000 Repechage Main Event. In total, the schedule will include five Official Asia Player of the Year events ranging from 10k to 100k PHP.

The annual APPT stop in the Philippines has returned to the city of Manila after several seasons in the beaches of Cebu. Last year's Season 7 winner was Korean Jae Kyung Sim who won PHP 3,948,000 (~USD $95,000).

'Simba' has gone on to show that he's no one trick pony with a side event victory this season at APPT Seoul in addition to a third place finish at EPT San Remo which netted him another € 75,000.

Season 4 champion Vivian Im has been confirmed for the event as well as fellow Team PokerStars Pros Raymond Wu, Celina Lin and 2010 Asia Player of the Year Bryan Huang.

"The Philippines is where I won my first major tournament so I'm always excited to go back." said Im , who is the only female APPT Main Event winner. "I love the resort in Cebu but I think that having the tournament in Manila is going to mean a bigger field and more prize money which is great."
