APPT9 Seoul Day 1B: Nakai leads the way
After the Welcome Party last night it was back to grind mode for the players as Day 1B kicked off this afternoon. The cards have now been retired and chips bagged up for the night after another eight levels of exciting poker action in the APPT9 Seoul Main Event.
By the close of late registration it was another 125 players in contention for the title this week, nine more entrants than we saw yesterday for Day 1A. At the end of play, there were 47 remaining, who will join yesterday's 42 qualifiers tomorrow for Day 2.
As the blinds began to climb later into the night, a whole host of players hit the rail. Taiwanese rap sensation MC HotDog found the exit, as did Team PokerStars Pro Kosei Ichinose. Australia's Stevan Chew and China's Nicky Tao Jin also came up short of Day 2.
Celina Lin is still among the field, representing Team PokerStars and the ladies here at Seoul. Lin finished the day with 33,400 in chips. Regular on the circuit, Japan's Iori Yogo will also be back tomorrow, he accumulated 25,000 throughout this Day 1B.
All eyes are on Japan's Takahiro Nakai though, who leads the charge going into Day 2 with 186,700 in chips. Nakai only has one previous live cash to his name, but he looks primed to add a second here this week.
