2016ACOP: Chenbin Xu tops Day 1a on opening day

Friday marked the opening day for the 2016 Asia Championship of Poker (ACOP) held at the PokerStars LIVE Macau poker room.

Day 1 of the 17-day poker festival featured the 1m GTD Spadie event where the first of three starting flights drew 146 entrants.

"I expect the 1m GTD Spadie to easily hit 400 runners with a real chance at 500." said APPT Tournament Director Rex Cheong. "We were hoping this new ACOP event would produce a strong opening for the series and so far it's looking good."

After twelve 30-minute levels the field was whittled down to 25.

Hong Kong's Chenbin Xu leads all survivors with 115,400 chips. China's Xiao Lin (111,200) and Taiwan's Leon Hsu (109,900) are the only other six-figure stacks from Friday's starting flight.
