APPT Macau: "Now we're getting somewhere"; 7 left in ACOP Warm-Up

Within the first half-hour of play after the dinner break we've seen two rapid eliminations at the final table of the ACOP Warm-Up.

Not long after players returned, the short stack Jan Zeuschner began Level 24 (15,000/30,000/5,000) open-raising all in on multiple occasions for about 350,000 in each instance.

Finally after doing so again from middle position, Zeuschner got a caller in Joseph Cheong on the button. Zeuschner tabled J♣J♥, but Cheong had picked up K♦K♣, and after the community cards came 8♣5♥[10d][10h]8♠, Cheong had pushed up close to 1.3 million (second position, behind Jeff Rossiter) as Zeuscher departed in ninth place ($175,500 HKD).

Shortly after that one, Rong Fan opened with a 2x raise to 60,000 from early position and Adam Latimer reraised all in for about 380,000 from a couple of seats over. It folded back to Fan who quickly called, turning over A♣A♥.

Latimer raised his eyebrows and grinned as he turned over A♠J♠, and the pair laughed a little about Fan acting quickly in this instance with aces (unlike he had done earlier in a hand versus Cheong).

The board ran out 9♣2♠[10c]3♥8♠, and Fan chipped up into third with about 1.16 million while Latimer was eliminated in eighth ($215,500 HKD).

"What are we up to now... about $35,000?" asked Joseph Cheong of the table afterwards. "Now we're getting somewhere," he added.

Indeed, seventh-place prize money -- $291,500 (HKD) -- is worth a little more than that in U.S. dollars.
