Canada Cup Main Event underway

After a rocking High Roller that featured Team PokerStars Pro Jonathan Duhamel at the final table, the PokerStars Canada Cup Main Event has kicked off in Montreal.

The $3,300 buy-in drew 129 entries on its first day with many more expected to fight for the $2,000,000 guaranteed prize pool. When Day 1A finished, 47 players remained with Jeremy Thompson leading them all. Not too far behind are Marco Caza and PokerStars Team Online's Marc-Andre Ladouceur. Also on to Day 2 are Duhamel, Antonio Esfandiari, Timothy Adams, Mike Watson, Jordan Westmorland, Yann Dion, and Sam Greenwood.

This event kicks off on the heels of the 34-player $10,000 High Roller event. Hometown hero Jonathan Duhamel managed a fourth place finish there. Ultimately the $122,0050 win went to Samuel Chartier who beat Ami Alibay heads up for the title.

Now, all eyes turn to Day 1B of the Main Event.

Good luck to all the players in Montreal this weekend.
