PokerStars Canada Poker Cup kicks off at Playground with $100,000 Guaranteed
The PokerStars-sponsored Canada Poker Cup live tournament series kicked off at Playground Poker Club in Kahnawake, just minutes from Montreal.
The first of twelve events is offering up a massive $100,000 guaranteed prize pool for a $135 buy-in. There are four Day 1 sessions with re-entries Friday and Saturday, meaning if players are eliminated in the early session of each day, they dont have to wait for the following day to buy back in to the event.
The $100,000 prize pool is a lot of money and a nice prequel to all the other events leading up to the $2,000,000 guaranteed prize pool in the $3,300 Main Event taking place on May 22nd. There are satellites every night to the main event online on PokerStars and live at Playground Poker Club for as little as a $110 buy-in with minimum two seats guaranteed to the Main Event guaranteed up for grabs.
Day 1a of Event 1 of the PokerStars Canada Cup started at 11am on May 16 and played through 13 half-hour levels before the remaining players bagged their chips to take to Day 2, on Sunday. Of the 237 players who started today, 56 remained at the end of the day.
Day 1b of Event 1 of the PokerStars Canada Cup started at 7:30pm on May 16 and played through 13 half-hour levels before the remaining players bagged their chips to take to Day 2. Day 1b had 406 total entries, and when the day wrapped up, the following 109 players qualified to return on Sunday.
The PokerStars Canada Poker Cup festivities resume on Saturday with Day 1C and lots of other great live poker at Playground Poker Club. With a stellar turnout on Friday, the $100,000-guaranteed prize pool will surely be shattered.
