EPT Barcelona: Money on the horizon
The players have returned from the dinner break and with 80 players remaining the ordeal of securing a cash finish has, for some, well and truly started. Of those left 64 will be paid for their efforts whilst the other 18 will have nothing but painful memories to accompany them home.
That may not explain exactly why things have calmed down on one particular table. It could be down to all sorts of reasons but there's certainly a difference, with fewer big hands and fewer flops. Most pots taken down by the simple exercise of an unchallenged raise.
One reason though may be down to the quality of the competition.
Thierry van den Berg
The table features Thierry van den Berg, a regular stand out performer on last year's tour, with final tables to his name; Steve Jelinek from England, a regular qualifier on PokerStars; Jonas Molander, still a young Swede despite being a veteran of the EPT, and another Jonas, Jonas Klausen of Denmark, who has barged his way through to a stack of 220,000.
