EPT London: Willy Wonka and the poker factory
So, you're in London and curled up in your hotel room with your entire extended family. You're eating broth and trying to find two pounds to rub together. It's a hard-knock life but one you've come to accept (even the part where you sleep foot-to-foot with an old man who has an endless, inconceivable hope that everything is going to work out just fine). That's when the Willy Wonka of EPT London enters the picture. (Admittedly, this is a fairly uncomfortable and sort of psychedelic way of approaching this, but just ride with it for a while.)
Just in to the PokerStars Blog is news that this weekend's EPT London Festival of Poker has hired its own magical mystery tour guide, and he is giving away a side tourney buy-in to all his loyal Twitter followers. Here's how the contest will work:
If you're hanging out around EPT London this weekend, follow the @PokerStars account on Twitter and keep an eye on the #EPTQuest hashtag.
At some point, followers will get clues and a password via Twitter that will lead them to a particular location in London. Whoever finds the location first will go heads-up in a quick tournament. Winners will receive one of nine Golden Chips and a set of mysterious instructions that will lead them to single-table tournament. The winner of that tournament gets a free entry into the £300 + £30 "Win the Button" tourney.
If you miss out on one of the Golden Chips, there are still a lot of prizes for the best Twitter users in the field. PokerStars will give out goodie bags to the most entertaining tweeters of the day. If you want to get noticed, use the hashtag #EPTWin.
All of this will be on display on a new EPT innovation. For the first time on the European Poker Tour, the EPT staff will be putting up the (cue dramatic timpani pounding) The Twitter Wall. Four big screens will be on display in the tournament room where players will be able to see special EPT information, contest news, and each other's tweets. While EPT London players stand a chance of winning some cool stuff using Twitter this week, it will also be a good way to keep up with what's going on. So load up your Twitter feeds with the following accounts:
Alright then. My job is done here. I now have a crew of underpaid workers to manage while they open a few hundred thousand candy bars.
