EPT8 Madrid: Starting stacks, levels and dinner info

Good morning/afternoon/evening, poker fans (we're not time zone biased here on the PokerStars Blog). The European Poker Tour has returned to Madrid for its second time but this time round we're in a bright and breezy annex rather than the main casino floor. The tournament floor is reminiscent of that fantastic open-topped room at the Monte Carlo Bay hotel, home of the EPT Grand Final. It's all high ceilings, light billowing curtains and warm breezes coming from the barbeque area outside (a big hit last year).

Today we'll be playing eight one-hour levels with no dinner break. Well, that's what the floorman told James 'flushy' Dempsey, who himself was last night telling us about how he managed to toss his phone, complete with detailed records of his horses' make-up and on-going debts, into a Las Vegas swimming pool. That sounds unfortunate. Continuing in that vein he is sat next to Team PokerStars Pro Martin Staszko.

The bubble is still a few days away

Other players sitting down with a 30,000 starting stack include Barny Boatman, Team PokerStars Pro Alex Kravchenko, Staszko and Henrique Pinho (who really needs to pull his trousers up - far too much is on show), Juha Helppe, Max Heinzelmann, Faraz Jaka, Dermot Blain and PCA High Roller champ Alex Bilokur. That's a few final tables there. Wild man Marcel Bjerkmann is already out, but in a more conventional kings into aces coup than you'd expect.
