Schemion and Selbst neck-and-neck for Season 10 EPT Player of the Year

It's tight at the top for the Season 10 Player of the Year Award, which is worth a cool €50,000 for the winner and run this year by the Global Poker Index. German wunderkind Ole Schemion, who is also the current GPI #1, is leading the race with 781 points but is only 45 points ahead of Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst.

Both Schemion and Selbst have clocked up impressive results since Season 10 started in August. Schemion already has nine cashes including all three majors at both EPT Barcelona and the PCA: the Main Event, the High Roller and the Super High Roller. His biggest points scorer so far however was for his fifth place in the EPT Prague Main Event for 158 points and €218,300.

Selbst, the most successful female tournament player of all time, has already won two side events this season (the UKIPT London High Roller and the EPT Prague PLO Championship) and, like Schemion, also cashed all three majors at the PCA. Now on 736 points, her biggest points scorer this season was 167 points for her third place in the PCA High Roller, which paid out $607,580.

A Main Event min-cash would be enough for Selbst to catch Schemion up, but tourney commitments in the US mean she'll be missing EPT Vienna in March. Selbst will have just two events left on the schedule to catch up, EPT Sanremo and the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino EPT Grand Final in April.

Schemion, who won both German Player of the Year and Live Tournament Player of the Year at the GPI European Poker Awards during EPT Deauville, has won more than $1 million on the EPT circuit this season; Selbst more than $1.7 million.
