EPT Deauville: Side event round-up; €1,500 begins; Panka busts Turbo
The two-day €1,500 event has gotten underway with 42 players having entered so far. The tournament will be playing nine 40-minute levels today finishing around 1am. The tournament will then restart at midday tomorrow with levels being increased to 60-minutes. So far those involved included two Swedish former EPT champions in Michael Tureniec and Anton Wigg, Konstantin Puchkov, side event winner here Makram Saber and Michel Abecassis.
In the €500 Turbo event, there are 45 players remaining out of the initial 89 who entered. There's a first prize of €11,350 for the winner with 13 places being paid a minimum of €850. Former EPT winners Dominik Panka and Jannick Wrang have recently been eliminated from the tournament. The latter went out after losing with A♠8♣ against A♦T♥ on a 7♣8♠T♣7♥9♠ board.
In the €800 Deepstack, the tournament is playing a total of 16 levels today with surviving players coming back tomorrow at midday, similar to the €1,500 event. With 103 runners, 1st place is worth €21,000 with 13 places getting paid at least €1,580.
Later on this evening, it's the tournament for the true chocoholics, the €200 Grasel Sweets EPT Superstack. This begins at 8pm tonight and like the €1,500 and the €800 event, Day 2 will restart at midday on the final day of the festival.
