EPT11 Grand Final: Figuccia earns a trophy, €2K down to two tables

As the Main Event moves through its final level of the day, let's look in once more on the many side events happening at the Monte Carlo Bay Resort and Hotel as the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino EPT Grand Final festival.

A winner has emerged from Event #52, €200 NL turbo tournament -- Marco Figuccia of Slovenia, who adds title from Monaco to a résumé that includes a couple of IPT Main Event victories and a win in the Italian Championship of Sanremo.

Figuccia triumphed over a field of 92, earning a first-place share of €11,900 from the €46,000 prize pool.

Event #46, the two-day €2,000 event that began with 263 players yesterday is now down to just 11, having recently gone on a dinner break. Among those cashing since we last checked in were Simon Deadman (31st, €3,980), Jeremy Ausmus (28th, €3,980), Tomochika Kamiya (24th, €4,490), start-of-day leader Ivan Luca (14th, €7,040), Stefan Huber (13th, €7,800), and Daichi Tominaga (12th, €7,800).

Going to break the current chip leader is Andrey Bondar of Russia who is sitting with 592,000, with Hossein Ensan (561,000) and Georgios Sotiropoulos (446,000) next in line at present. Also still in the hunt are Anthony Zinno (325,000) and Max Greenwood (203,000).

The €500 H.O.R.S.E. Event #53 has reached its dinner break. A total of 30 players are taking part in that one. Right now 21 are left with the top five making the cash and €5,385 due the winner.

The €5,000 NL Event #51 has had its dinner break and returned, and now just 28 are left from the starting group of 121. As noted, that one has a handsome €586,850 prize pool with the top 17 cashing and the winner due €147,700.

Finally the first day of a two-day €1,000 NL Single Re-entry tournament -- Event #54 -- got started about an hour ago with the plan being to play nine 50-minute levels today.

We'll be keeping the closest watch on Event #46 (the €2K NL) and Event #51 (the €5K NL) as the night wears on, although that €100 "Second Best Hold'em" NL turbo that starts in a little while (with €50 unlimited rebuys) has piqued our interest. We look forward to letting you know what we see there as players try to showdown hands just a little less good than those of their opponents'.
