EPT11 Grand Final: Home sweet home for Sammartino and Altergott

In many interviews in the past Phil Hellmuth has talked about peaks and troughs of his 'poker powers'. Now before you dismiss that as pure hot air from the Poker Brat, imagine if he'd' simply said 'poker players go through streaks' or 'confidence is vital to getting good poker results.'

For that is essentially what the 13 time WSOP bracelet winner is getting at, he's just saying it in 'Hellmuth' terms. It's something that you can't help thinking about as you watch this record breaking EPT festival wind down on its final day. On one side of the room Scott Seiver - the high-roller hat-trick hero - the indefatigable Dzmitry Urbanovich and Ivan Luca are deep in event #76 a €10,000 turbo. Luca and Urbanovich are number one and two on the 2015 GPI, whilst Seiver is number one ranked overall.

Urbanovich - on quite the 'streak'

On the other side of the room you'll find the €25,000 High Roller final table playing out on the webcast set. It's the same setting as the €100,000 Super High Roller final table and two players have made both finals. Take a peak there and you'll see Dario Sammartino and Max Altergott in pretty much the same position as they were in six days ago. Back on Saturday Altergott drew seat five, whilst Sammartino was in trap seven. This time around Sammartino finds himself in the six seat, and Altergott has immediate position on the Italian. Sammartino also had a deep run in the Main Event where he finished 17th. Streaky.

That event is down to seven players with Dan Smith the only play to exit from a final table that's been running for around four hours now. The situation right now is much the same as it was when the final table began with Charlie Carrel and Andrey Andreev the two big stacks. As for Sammartino and Altergott they're both are well and truly in the danger zone with 12 big blinds each. Neither looks unduly worried and both seemed focused on getting a double up to get them back in it.

Follow all the action from the final table of the €10,000 Main Event on the Main Event page. Also watch on EPT Live. The €25,000 High Roller is at its final too, over on the High Roller page. It's also about time you downloaded the EPT app. There you will get all the latest news, chip counts and payouts. You can download it on Android or IOS.
