EPT11 Grand Final: Side events play on as Smith does best to do the same
A quick word about Dan Smith right now. High Rollers are Smith's natural environment. This is his manor, the place he does business, and usually very well. But tonight this looks anything but his natural environment.
Smith is currently coping with a bad case of food poisoning. And when I say coping, I mean he's dragging his way through every waking minute. He has a bin nearby, a constant stream of water, and a plan to make it through the next two levels. He also has about two dozen people keeping an eye on him. If he can make it to the end of the day with chips it will be one of the performances of the festival.
As the High Rollers play on, elsewhere other events are playing down to winners.
-In Event #68, they're down to three of 113 in the €500 Deepstack.
-In the Escalator there are just five players remaining, with cashes already for colas Chouity, Jake Cody, Fedor Holz and Simon Deadman.
-In the €2k Turbo Bounty they're down to 12 from an original field of 108. They play down to a winner tonight.
-Meanwhile in the €5K 8-Game Turbo 6-handed the starting field of nine is now down to seven.
-In the €200 Monaco Megastack the field of 108 is down to 24, with a redraw just completed. They play on for another half an hour before bagging up for the night.
Lastly, after another look at the high roller (down to 12 over there), Dan Smith looks a little better. He just stared down a player next to him. That must be a good sign.
