FPS Deauville: Arrive late, chip up quickly
As level four draws to a close, the board now reads a total of 467 players, an increase of 40 per cent on last year and registration is still open for another half hour. These days it's very popular for many players to join at this point, just when the antes start and the pot size increases rapidly.
Among the names who have slipped in during the level including former bracelet winner Simeon Naydenov (35,000) who managed two cashes at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure this year. He finished 20th in the $4,850 + 450 8 Handed event for $8,760 and then came 35th in the $24,000 + 1,000 High Roller 8 Handed, picking up $44,540. However, the Bulgarian's biggest result was when he finished 6th at EPT10 Vienna last year for €151,000.
Naydenov is currently ranked No.2 on Bulgaria's all-time money list, behind former PCA winner Dimitar Danchev (30,000) who has also made an appearance here. PokerStars is being represented today by Team PokerStars Pro Online Ronan Monfort (28,000). Two years ago Monfort finished third in this very event for €60,000.
The previously-mentioned Paul Berende has 27,000 while two-time bracelet winner Max Pescatori (22,000) is a late arrival to Table 1. Finally, French stalwart and EPT regular Paul Testud (27,000) is another familiar face. Testud's most recent cash on the tour was in the London Cup last year when he came 79th for £560.
