FPS Deauville: PokerStars player Ivan Luca leads into the final day
With 152 players left on the second to last day of FPS Deauville, the chances of reaching the final table within eight levels always looked to be very slim. By the end of level 26 (20,000/40,000/5,000), there were still 22 players left, all vying for the €197,000 prize that awaits the winner of this tournament.
The chip leader at the end of day is PokerStars player Ivan Luca. The Argentinian, who is fast becoming in a star in Latin America, knocked out Simeon Naydenov in 24th place when the former flopped a flush against Naydenov's king-high flush draw. This gave Luca over 3.2 million in chips and the lead itself was handed to him right at the death when former leader Felix Lambertz lost a 2.6 million chip pot to Yohan Figueiras.
Lambertz remained over 3 million but he was pushed into third place when Sacha Israel knocked out Eddie Makhoul with A♦A♣ against J♥J♣. Nicolas Hamouni is fourth with 2.825 million, having dominated the chip lead for most of the day before being overtaken in the last hour or so.
