EPT10 Prague High Roller: The hunt for a second final table of the day

It would be extraordinarily difficult for any tournament to have matched the Main Event today, at least in terms of all-out high-octane action. But the High Rollers are perfectly happy going about things in a more leisurely fashion, and their bid to reach a final table tonight has also been far from a crawl.

When they went on their dinner break, the returning Day 2 field of 84 had been trimmed to only 21. That included navigating a fairly painless bubble period, which took only a few minutes of hand-for-hand play.

ElkY looked like he would be heading out, but he found two miracle sevens with his A♣7♣ to beat Thomas Muhlocker's jacks. That left Eugene Katchalov to make the unluckiest walk of them all, when Muhlocker found jacks again, but this time Katchalov's pocket sevens couldn't come from behind to beat them.

A bubble-up for ElkY

Thomas Muhlocker: doubles one, eliminates another

Katchalov wasn't happy.

The top line information about this €10,000 buy in event is that 137 players joined it, and 39 of them re-entered after busting early. That created a prize pool of €1,724,800, with the winner set for €382,050.

The min-cash, missed out on by Katchalov, is worth €17,250.

As they headed to dinner, the Belarussian player Dmitry Yurasov was out in front. He has had a couple of small successes on the EPT, but the results database also shows a few cashes for him in Macau. Whenever you see the distinctive green Macau flag on a European player's profile, you instantly think: "big cash games". And for him to come over here and play a High Roller event, that seems about right.

Oleksii Khoroshenin, from Ukraine, is just behind him, on a bit of a spin-up since EPT Barcelona. Khoroshenin took second in a big side event there, and is re-investing from his €50,000 win.

There are a clutch of more familiar names still in the hunt too. Jeff Rossiter (did anyone say Macau cash games?) is near the top, while Bryn Kenney, Dimitar Danchev, Olivier Busquet and Mike McDonald are still in the hunt. Vanessa Selbst is the lone Team PokerStars Pro remaining (ElkY went out just into the money), but she's a fine person to fly the flag alone.

Bryn Kenney: still in

Dimitar Danchev: warm up for the PCA defence

Players and officials will be here until there are only eight players remaining. (Unless the players get together to decide they want it another way.) Live coverage will be ongoing on the main High Roller page.
