ESPT6 Barcelona: The tour returns, the players reunite
We're getting closer to figuring out just how many players came from all over the globe to Casino Barcelona to play Day 1C of the Estrellas Barcelona Main Event. While we can't say just yet how many they are, we know by now who many of them are, including many with whom we're reuniting here at the start of another season of the European Poker Tour.
Team PokerStars Pros are represented, with Eugene Katchalov, Andre Akkari, Matthias De Meulder, and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier among them.
Team PokerStars Pro Luca Pagano was one of those coming in late after the first few levels had gone off, thereby being seated in the Marquee Room where the overflow has been spilling this way and that.
Pagano's father, Claudio -- a.k.a. Papa Pagano -- played Day 1A of this event.
Others among the field include Sweden's Alex Stevic, winner of the very first EPT Main Event back in 2004, held right here in Barcelona.
2012 World Series of Poker Main Event 11th-place finisher Elisabeth Hille is playing.
Speaking of, the winner of the following year's WSOP ME, Ryan Riess, is playing.
Jason Wheeler, winner of the Super Tuesday multiple times among other tournaments on PokerStars, is playing. So are Sam Grafton, Sofia Lovgren, Ludovic Geilich, and Thor Hansen.
Also here are Kimmo Kurko, Vitaly Lunkin, Diego Gomez, Dermot Blain, Friend of PokerStars Felipe "Mojave" Ramos, and EPT7 London Main Event champion David Vamplew.
Meanwhile, there are a couple of satellites happening today, including a €5K one feeding into tomorrow's €50K Super High Roller which unsurprisingly has attracted several more well known pros.
More than 80 players are involved in that one, including Dzmitry Urbanovich, Team PokerStars Pro George Danzer, Bryn Kenney, Sergio Aido, Steve O'Dwyer, Ole Schemion, Jonathan Little, Ivan Luca, and 2014 PCA Main Event champion Dominik Panka.
