Pignataro spends day on top in Malta
IPT Malta welcomed another 83 runners to the felt on Friday, making the combined field for this event to 131 players.
The total prize pool up for grabs stands at €254,140, with €82,000 on offer for first place.
103 players have made it through another arduous day's play, with Italian Luigi Pignataro (who already won IPT San Marino last season) heading the chip count on 90,450 chips, followed by PokerStars Team Pro Pier Paolo Fabretti with 84,175.
Famous names to appear on Day 2 included Team PokerStars Pros Salvatore Bonavena and Luca Pagano, with 42,900 and 34,225 chips.
A total of 103 players will return today for Day 2 and play is scheduled to get under way at 14:00.
The money starts when there are 16 competitors left. After Day 2, we hit Day 3 and we'll then play down to a final table of eight who will return on Monday to battle for the title of IPT Malta Champion.
