LAPT San Jose: From San Jose to Macau and back again

Here there be champions.

As the Latin America Poker Tour's second season kicks off here in San Jose, it's easy to find people with some sort of championship distinction on their resume. As noted here earlier, these easiest to spot is the young Hungarian Valdemar Kwaysser who won the San Jose event in the inaugural season of the LAPT. Today, he sits in the corner of the room, a good breakfast in his belly, and his eyes set on another championship.

He, however, is far from the only champion in the room. This year's APPT Macau winner Eddie Sabat is in the field, as is WPT Champion and Team PokerStars Pro Victor Ramdin. Jose Rosenkrantz, WPT San Jose winner, is yet another title-holder fighting on the San Jose felt.

A short list of other notables in the field includes Carter Gill, serial PokerStars qualifier Jim Hamburger, Natan Wager, Team PokerStars Pros Humberto Brenes, Andre Akkari and Alexandre Gomes, Shirley "Siren" Rosario, Alex Brenes, Liv Boeree, Veronica Dabul, Jose Ignacio Barbero, Jesus Bertoli, Steven Thompson, Gualter Salles, Jon "apestyles" Van Fleet and Stephen "stevie444" Chidwick, and Karlo Lopez.

While the final numbers on the field aren't in yet, we are already seeing notable bust-outs in the field. We've received early word that Leo Fernandez has already given up the ghost and headed for the rail. At least it's a beautiful day outside.

So, now we begin asking the question: Will we have a repeat champion or crown one anew. it's a question we won't be able to answer for quite some time. In the meantime, we had back into the fray.
