LAPT Vina del Mar: Akkari Axed

Ladies and gentlemen, Andre Akkari has left the building.

This leaves Alexandre Gomes as the lone remaining Team PokerStars Pro in the field, after a stunning hand that left everyone's collective jaws on the floor.

Seriously. You can't make this stuff up.

Andre Akkari sees the bad news

Akkari opened from early position with a raise to 2,700. Alex Manzano made the call from the hijack seat and the button moved all in, having both his opponents covered. Akkari frowned, shrugged, moved all in, and Manzano practically beat him into the pot, calling off his entire stack. The hands? A-A for Manzano, Q-Q for the button and K-K for Akkari. This pot was a game-changer, and at least one, possibly two of these players would not see Day 2.

Alex Manzano's face says it all-- QUADS!

The table exploded as the flop came down Ad-Ah-Th, Manzano flopping quad aces, shutting the door on either of his opponents' hands getting there, save for the fantastical possibility of the button making a runner-runner royal flush. The 3s on the turn sealed the deal and Manzano tripled up, leaving button with only about 10,000 chips and sending Akkari to the rail in the closing moments of Day 1.

And you thought these things only happened online.
