LAPT Vina del Mar: Topping off the down payment

Tom "Aln_The_Kid" Alner lives with his mom.

Still in his early 20s and full of love and respect for his mum, the kid from the UK has no real problem with his current living arrangements. Nonetheless, there comes a time in every guy's life when it's time to get out from underneath a mother's constant gaze.

Alner has a plan.

"I've almost got enough for a house," he said last night as he stood alongside the welcome party bar sipping on a beer.

Enough? Enough what?

Money, as it turns out.

Alner went on to explain that since graduating from university, he's done little else but win at PokerStars. He's won enough that his buddies have stopped celebrating his wins and are living in a constant state of friendly jealousy.

The man from Bristol may well be the only British player in the room today. He's hoping to bring home a title for the UK. More than that, though, Alner is looking to win a little extra cash here in Chile and have enough money for a place of his own back home.

Alner made it to Vina del Mar via the PokerStars Steps qualifiers. He started at Step 2 and made his way up to Step 6 in which he won his seat to the LAPT event here in Chile. He can parlay a $27 investment into tens of thousands of dollars before the end of the week.

Today he has his work cut out for him. Team PokerStars Pro Andre Akkari sits on his immediate right and Paul "X-22" Magriel is just across the table. Regardless, if Alner's recent track record is any indication, he is going to be just fine. The hardest part may be deciding how many bathrooms he wants in his new crib.
