LAPT announces Lima, Peru stop
For the first time ever, Lima, Peru will play host to a televised live poker tournament. June 1-5, the Latin American Poker Tour will visit the historic city to award the next LAPT title.
The host venue, Lima's Atlantic City Casino, is located in the upscale neighborhood of Miraflores, just a few minutes from the Pacific Ocean. The casino has successfully run high-stakes international poker tournaments for several years and is widely regarded as the heart of Peruvian poker. It also boasts a large array of traditional casino games, five-star dining, and tons of entertainment options.
"We are thrilled to host such a prestigious event as an LAPT in Miraflores," said Manuel Masias, the Mayor of Miraflores. "It will be a great opportunity to offer a taste of the local Peruvian sights, sounds and culture to the international community."
While the $2,700 championship Main Event will draw the bulk of the players, the LAPT has once again created a fantastic schedule of side events, including a new $300 + 1 re-buy short-handed (6 max) no-limit hold'em event. What's more, after a successful first run at February's Punta del Este event, the LAPT Invitational High Stakes Cash game will return to the television set for more action.
Aa always, PokerStars is offering qualifiers that can get you to Lima for pennies on the dollar.
