LAPT Punta del Este: Day 2, Level 17 (3,000-6,000, 500 ante)
10:03 pm: Day 2 complete, play to resume at 12:00 pm Friday With the elimination of Paul Howard in 25th place, we've arrived at our final three tables and play has concluded for the night. Surviving to play Day 3 are Humberto Brenes, Nacho Barbero, Stephen "stevie444" Chidwick, Oliver Rowe, and Martin Fuentes, who took chip leader honors at the end of Day 1. Tonight, they belong to Cesar Mostafa, who finished up with 529,000. Brazilians Helio Chreem and Daniela De Lima Zapiello are close behind him.
We'll have a full wrap-up and official chip counts posted shortly.
9:51pm: Quads for the Shark Just in time for the end of the day, Humberto Brenes earned a double-up after flopping a set of sixes and rivering quads. He's up to 350,000.
9:42pm: Stevie Steamrolling Stevie "stevie444" Chidwick has had quite a swingy day, starting off with a big stack, dipping to only ten big blinds near the bubble, and then mounting an early evening comeback. He'd built his stack back up to about 150,000 when we happened upon this hand.
Chidwick opened for 13,500 from late position and Alejandro Burzano shoved for about 70,000 from the big blind. Chidwick insta-called and turned up A♠J♥, his hand dominated by Burzano's A♦Q♠. The poker gods were shining on Stevie, however, a jack hitting the flop to give him the lead. Burzano couldn't catch up, and he exited in 27th place, while Chidwick is up to 245,000.
9:23pm: Still going... So, you know how we told you we'd be playing either eight full levels or to 24 players, whatever came first. Well, we lied. The eight levels are done, but with 27 players remaining, we're going to push on through until we have our final three tables.
We also have a new chip leader. Cesar Mostafa has wrested the lead away from Daniela Zapiello and now sits in the front of the pack with 440,000.
