Figueiredo takes LAPT Chile title for Brazil
When the LAPT returned to Brazil for Season 4 it gave that country a chance to win its first-ever LAPT title in its home country. That nearly happened in Sao Paulo, but Chilean Alex Manzano took the title and denied Brazil its opportunity. Now, Brazil has exacted its revenge by traveling to Chile and taking down the LAPT Chile National Poker Championship.
Brazilian Murilo Figueiredo beat the largest ever LAPT field--621 players-- to win the $146,000 first prize.
The tournament in Vina del Mar marked the LAPT's first time in Chile since Season 2. Tournament organizers were forced to cancel the Season 3 events after the country's devastating earthquake in 2010.
Players came from 20 different countries to play in the Chilean championship. Nearly 50 showed up to play in the $4,000 high-roller event eventually won by Colombia's Carlos Munera.
The LAPT will now take a break for a few weeks before making its return to Lima, Peru April 13-17. For full details, see the LAPT Lima information page.
Congratulations to for winning Murilo Figueiredo's first LAPT title for Brazil!
