LAPT7 Peru: Second helping
It's a new day in Lima, and like most days here it's already started with a delicious morning meal made more enjoyable thanks to the company.
Team PokerStars Pro Andre Akkari was there, prepping to join the fun for today's second and final Day 1 flight. Among the topics of conversation was the high quality of food to be found all over the city, not-so-modestly referred to as the "Gastronomical Capital of the Americas."
Akkari told of a previous visit, a stay at a neighboring hotel, and a memorable room service order of conchitas parmesanas. They were so scrumptious, he immediately called back down to place another order.
"How many would you like?" he was asked. "How many do you have?" he replied.
"A lot," said the staff member.
"Okay, then... I'll take a lot."
It appears with today's Day 1b we'll be ordering a lot more of what we had on Wednesday, with a bigger field expected than the 274 entries who played yesterday. Joining Akkari will be his fellow Team PokerStars Pros Leo Fernandez and Christian de Leon, the latter back for another try after busting shy of the end of play on Day 1a.
Yesterday Peru's own Henry Zapana successfully gobbled up the most chips of all the Day 1a survivors, ending the night with 199,000 of them.
Like yesterday, the plan today involves 10 one-hour levels, with a 75-minute dinner break after Level 6. Late registration remains open through that break to the start of Level 7, as does the option for busted players to re-enter. We imagine they'll be kept busy outside the poker room at the registration desk this afternoon.
It'll be busy in here as well as players try their best to help themselves to each other's chips. Stay tuned for reports throughout the day to see who fills up the most.
