NAPT to host big party, big names, big charity event
In just a few days, we'll all be walking into The Venetian for a history-making event: the first PokerStars-sponsored tour stop in Las Vegas history. Hundreds of people have qualified for the North American Poker Tour tournament, and hundreds more will buy in to the $5,000 Main Event. It's looking to be a monster.
We've just learned of a lot of other big news surrounding the Main Event, including a massive party that will go off at Tao Friday night featuring none other than T-Pain himself. The NAPT Venetian launch party is 8-10pm at Tao and is exclusive to NAPT Venetian Main Event players and their guests.
Just before the party kicks off, the NAPT and PokerStars will host a special star-studded Celebrity Charity Poker Tournament to benefit Three Square Food Bank, a local Las Vegas not-for-profit that provides nutritious food to more than 270 other not-for-profit and faith-based organizations in an effort to end hunger in Southern Nevada.
Among the celebs expected to play are Tony Hawk, Christian Slater, Brad Garrett, Joanna Krupa, Jason Alexander, Orel Hershiser, Montel Williams, Slash, Lou Diamond Phillips, and Marlon Wayans. The $500 rebuy event will also feature members of Team PokerStars Pro and all proceeds from the tournament will be matched by PokerStars.
"We are pleased to be a part of such a prestigious event," said Julie A. Murray, President & CEO of the Three Square Food Bank. "Hunger is a large and growing issue in our valley. It is with the help of dedicated organizations like PokerStars.net and the support of charity-minded celebrities that we can make significant advances in our battle against hunger in Southern Nevada."
The team from the PokerStars Blog is currently packing its bags (what do I wear to a T-Pain concert?). We'll be in Vegas for all the action and will have live reports beginning Saturday.
