PCA 2012: Negreanu threatened with a punch in the face
Daniel Negreanu has just been threatened with a punch in the face. This surely is something that must be looked into. This will not stand, ya know, this aggression will not stand, man. Negreanu was bent in his chair, his torso twisted at a right angle from the table, as if frozen in a policeman's clinch and just moments away from a face-plant into the bonnet of a squad car.
"I can't be held accountable. I might punch you in the face," Negreanu was told, "I'm ticklish."
The threatened assault was being levelled at the Canadian Team PokerStars Pro by a short blonde masseuse, who, with Negreanu locked rigid in his seat and at her mercy, looked more like a sci-fi ninja or right-wing military glamour-puss. Negreanu, who seems quite hyper today, must have threatened to tickle her, although I must admit I didn't hear that. And I'll stand by that in court.
"I've got so much energy, it's crazy," said Negreanu. "Maybe it's because I didn't do my yoga this morning."
He does seem particularly up for this event having been up early for a packed hour-long Q&A this morning, after which he tweeted: "$25k event today at PCA. I feel amazing. 2012 is going to be an amazing year for me. I got my head on straight and see clearly."
Negreanu has his annual campaign off to a good start with a fifth-place finish in the $100,000 Super High Roller for $250,900 and he looks like he means business today. No table is easy in a High Roller but Negreanu doesn't seem to have one of the worst tables, despite sharing it with the likes of Mike 'Timex' McDonald and Randy Lew.
