PCA 2013: Looking back with Lee Jones

I met Lee Jones over the phone in December of 2004. I was in the lobby of Las Vegas' Excalibur hotel when he called to ask me to join him at the 2005 PCA five weeks later. It was a phone call that changed the course of my life and has resulted in me being here at the PCA every year since.

What you might not know is that not only was Lee at the 2004 PCA eleven months before that, but he was also--in essence--the first person to ever write a live PCA tournament report. As he floated along on the Voyager of the Seas cruise ship, Jones put together the first dispatches from what would end up being a decade-old written history of the Caribbean's biggest poker festival.

I did a little digging today and found Jones in these two rare photos from the very first PCA.

The nostalgic look back was spawned by the arrival of a newly-svelte Jones on the scene here at the PCA this week.

Earlier today, he stood alongside our Sarah Grant and shared a few memories.
