PCA 2014: Riddle of mystery exclamations -- solved

Dialogue, thought to be non-existent or at best missing for years has been unearthed, revealing for the first time the actual context of those sudden exclamations you hear across a poker room.

Cries of "Yes!", "That's what I'm talking about!" and "One time!" are now thought to be part of wider conversations, and not spontaneous jibber-jabber as first assumed.

For instance, "one time" is now believed to be the start of an anecdote, which is subsequently interrupted by the passage of play. An example might go something like "One time... (Player doubles up) I went to the store to buy some milk."

It's believed "That's what I'm talking about!" actually refers to earlier conversations the player was engaged in during which they pointed out their enjoyment of winnings hands, an explanation that others insisted would require a demonstration for them to fully understand.

Experts say it will change the attitude of everyone to such outbursts, from one of irritation to curiosity.
