We've mentioned before in this space how often the Greenwood brothers, Sam and Luc, cause double-takes for those of us following and reporting on tournament action. The Toronto twins don't look exactly alike, but the resemblance about as close as live suited overcards versus a pocket pair.
One of the Greenwoods was the chip leader to end yesterday's Day 1. We checked and double-checked, and it was indeed Sam, who from 101 total entries bagged the biggest stack of 316,500 among the 43 players making it through to today's Day 2.
In other words, Sam has positioned himself well so far to match the feat of Luc at the first PokerStars Championship High Roller event in the Bahamas, where Luc topped everyone to take the trophy.
Sam enjoys a slight lead over Pedro Idrovo from Ecuador to start play today, with Aleks Dimitrov, Patrick Serda, and Team PokerStars Pro Felipe Ramos rounding out to the top five, and Ramos's teammate Leo Fernandez also near the top of the leaderboard.
Late registration for this single re-entry tournament remains open until play starts back today at 12 noon, with the schedule calling for 10 one-hour levels to be played, setting up Monday's big finale.
Will Sam Greenwood make a PSC high-rolling PSC champions with his brother, or will someone else emerge to capture the trophy? We'll be here all day and night to share stories from the floor.
Meanwhile don't forget the Main Event is also entering its penultimate day today, so be sure to follow live updates, chip counts, photos, and more from that event right here on the PokerStars blog.
