PokerStars Championship Panama schedule gets a makeover
The upcoming PokerStars Championship Panama is going to look a bit different than its predecessor in the Bahamas, and that different look will involve more than a big canal.
Neil Johnson, PokerStars' head of Live Poker Operations, spent some time looking at the schedule after the PokerStars Championship in the Bahamas. When he and the rest of the team were done, they made the decision to change a few things.
"PokerStars is always reviewing player feedback to see how we can improve the experience for players at our live events, and some of the feedback over the last few events has involved field sizes and lower buy-in events," Johnson said. "With that in mind, we've taken a long look at the upcoming PokerStars Championship in Panama to see what changes we may want to make."
Johnson says the team has trimmed ten events off the schedule, lengthened registration, and made some adjustments to the re-entries, stack-sizes, and level lengths.
Here are some of the main changes you can expect to see in the Panama schedule.
• Eight levels of late registration for almost all events
• Single re-entry added to core side events
• $10,300 Second Chance High Roller added on Sunday March 19
• $500 and under events amended with some deeper stacks and longer levels
In addition to the changes mentioned above, the live events team has added guarantees to a number of the events. Here's a list of the new guaranteed prize pools.
o $1,000 National Championship - $400,000 Guaranteed
o $400 PokerStars Cup - $150,000 Guaranteed
o $200 PokerStars Open - $50,000 Guaranteed
o $120 Deepstack - $20,000 Guaranteed
o 2 X $120 Super Sat to $1,000 National Championship - 10 seats Guaranteed ($22,000)
o 2 X Freebuy Sats with $20 rebuys to PokerStars Cup - 10 seats Guaranteed ($8,800)
If you're planning on going, we'd suggest taking advantage of a limited time 33% percent discount at the host venue, the Sortis Hotel, that's available during the Main Event days. You can save more than $600 on your stay.
To get this offer, log in to your PokerStars account and search for the "Panama: Discount Hotel Package" (tournament ID: 1811729247). Register like you would any normal tournament to grab your discount hotel package. There is a limited number of rooms available.
If you feel like getting in for a lot less money, PokerStars is running satellites now. You can get $8,200 Main Event packages in $20 buy-in Spin & Go tourneys that are up and running this very moment. You can also get in for as low as $2.20 that PokerStars is running from now until March 5.
Once you're there, there's going to be a lot to do. In addition to all the poker, you can look forward to a signature PokerStars player party, Team PokerStars Q&As, and challenges in some of your favorite activities, including foosball, air hockey, and virtual reality games.
