PokerStars Festival Korea: Bubble looms in the High Roller
While Main Event Day 1B fires up it's the final day of the ₩4,350,000 High Roller that has taken centre stage. The bubble is now fast approaching with eight places paying and only 12 remaining players. They'll first be looking to secure a ₩9,620,000 (~$9,000) payday before vying for the ₩72,160,000 (~$65,000) first place prize.
The tournament began just yesterday and by the time late registration was closed this afternoon we had 62 total entries. It was 34 of those who were unique players while re-entries made up the difference. While most players were in for just one or two bullets, Yuki Ko and Seng Yee Leow fired five entries each. Unfortunately for the pair of them that still wasn't enough as they have since been relegated to the rail once again.
On the other end of the spectrum in the luck department currently sits runaway chip leader Boyuan Qu. After finishing as the frontrunner last night with 251,400 in chips Qu has spun that up even further to 710,000 today. He's way out in front of the field with Team PokerStars Online Randy 'nanonoko' Lew sitting in second spot with 395,000.
Qu has been bullying his tablemates and applying pressure at the right times to take down a lot of pots without showdown. As the bubble looms, that tendency seems to be super effective and Qu is likely to continue with the same game plan.
Lew has had another great day on the felt so far after finishing second in chips last night. While that position hasn't changed, his stack has continued to swell - almost doubling what he pulled out of his bag at the start of play here on Day 2.
Lew is keeping his followers up to date on Twitter. He posted the tweet below a few hours ago before adding another 45,000 to his stack.
Both Lew and Qu are seated right next to each other so while the latter is in a commanding position that could change at any moment. We'll be keeping an eye out for fireworks between them. Don't forget you can follow play-by-play coverage of the High Roller at PokerNews by clicking here.
