PokerStars Macau announces Macau Poker Cup: Red Dragon for 2013

PokerStars Macau today announced that the 17th installment of the popular Macau Poker Cup (MPC) -- Red Dragon series will take place at the Grand Waldo Entertainment Complex January 11 to 20.

The MPC features the legendary HKD $11,000 Red Dragon main event which comes with a HKD $3,000,000 guarantee.

"Over the last 3 years, the calendar's opening MPC series has had the largest Red Dragon field and has set a new record each time." said Danny McDonagh, PokerStars Director of Liver Operations for the Asia-Pacific. "The Red Dragon event has a huge following in Asia and we expect to challenge last year's record of 635 players this coming January."

The 10-day poker festival also includes nine Official Asia Player of the Year events ranging from buy-ins of HKD $2,000 to $20,000.


Team PokerStars Pro Celina Lin will return as the defending champion after becoming the first 2-time Red Dragon winner last June.

"The Macau Poker Cup always has a special place in my heart" said Lin. "The Red Dragon is arguably the most recognizable trophy in Asia, and I can't tell you how excited I am for a chance to get a third one."

Players can qualify for free to the Macau Poker Cup: Red Dragon on beginning December 10.
