MPC Red Dragon Day 1a: Level 9-11 (Blinds 800-1,600, Ante 200)
4.05am: Day 1a Concludes with Approximately 75 Remaining
The final hands have been dealt and the surviving players have bagged up their chips. At this point it is looking highly likely that Vyacheslav Kuzmin is going to end up as the chip leader, while Michael Marvanek and Team PokerStars Pro Raymond Wu are two of the notable names with plenty of chips filling their bags. Stay tuned for a full wrap-up of the night's action, along with a full end-of-day chip count list!
3.50am: Pause That Clock
The clock has been paused and the call to deal just four more hands has been made! Let's see how many survive the night!
3.40am: Wu Knocks One Away
It's been an active last couple of levels for Team PokerStars Pro Raymond Wu as he continues to be among the action. Wu recently got all his chips in holding J♠J♦against one opponent, who held 4♠4♣. When the board ran out 6♠9♥9♠6♥3♦, Wu raked in the pot, eliminating the player and seeing his stack move to around 70,000 in chips.
3.20am: Final Moments
The last level of the night has just commenced! There are currently 80 players at the tables, so lets see how many of those survive the night!
3.15am: Level Up, Blinds 800-1,600, Ante 200
3.00am: Raymond Doubles Up a Shortie
Team PokerStars Pro Raymond Wu is still at the tables and sitting behind a healthy stack. However, he did recently lose a small chunk of his chips when he doubled up a short-stacked player. The hand in question saw Wu holding K♦J♦ against the A♦5♦ of his opponent. Although he was already dominated, Wu's situation got even worse when two aces were dealt on the flop. The rest of the board was bricks and the player doubled up as Wu now sits with around 30,000 in chips.
2.45am: A Couple of Big Ones
Right at this moment there are two players who have the stand-out chip stacks in the room. One is Igor Yemelyanov, while the other is Australia's Michael Marvanek. Yemelyanov currently has around 90,000 in chips, while Marvanek is cruising around the six-figure mark. With two levels remaining for the night, it will be interesting to see if these two players can remain at the top.
2.35am: Level Up, Blinds 600-1,200, Ante 200
2.25am: Final Break of the Night
The remaining players have been sent on their final 10-minute break of the night. After this it's two more levels and then Day 1a is all over.
2.15pm: Bobo Chen Falls Down
Bobo Chen is currently sitting behind a painfully small stack. Once travelling quite comfortably, Chen recently lost the majority of his chips to one opponent. The hand in question saw Chen holding A♦K♠ and his opponent Q♦Q♣. Chen was up on his feet as the dealer spread out a 6♠7♠3♥4♦4♠ board, but quickly slunk back in his chair and now nurses a short stack.
2.00am: Steicke Unstuck
David Steicke is the latest player to be soon wandering out of the tournament area. We didn't catch his elimination hand, but he was kind enough to let us know his woes. Apparently Steicke ran his ace-ten into the ace-queen of an opponent on a board which showed an ace and queen. And that was all she wrote!
1.50am: Half the Field Down
With three more levels remaining here on Day 1a of the MPC: Red Dragon Main Event, it is notable to mention that just over half of the starting field has been eliminated. Approximately 120 players are currently at the felt and in with a chance to survive the night. Stay tuned to find out who ends up alive in two hour's time!
1.45am: Level Up, Blinds 500-1,000, Ante 100
