The first major event in Asia is the 26th installment of the Macau Poker Cup (MPC26) which takes place this February 3-19 at PokerStars LIVE Macau and features a 17-day schedule which includes 24 Official Asia Player of the Year events.

No doubt, the biggest news from the MPC26 announcement has to do with the changes to the legendary Red Dragon event.

Back in 2008, the MPC's Main Event had a modest 33 players with buy-in of HK$10,000. Lots has changed since then with last year's two Red Dragon events attracting massive fields of 1,075 (February 2016) and 1,145 (August 2016) - combining for over HK$23 million in prize money!

So what's different now you ask?

The next evolution of the Red Dragon will see its buy-in upped to HK$15,000 and comes with its biggest ever prize pool guarantee at HK$10 million! Structurally, players will now begin with a larger start bank of 20,000 chips (previously 15,000) -- with blinds beginning at 25/50 that's 400 big blinds to work with!!

More? Of course more!

Last year, the Baby Dragon took its first step towards big time numbers as the unofficial warm-up event saw a hefty jump from 346 to 575 runners. If 2016 was about learning to walk, then the Baby Dragon (February 10) is surely poised to run this year with a HK$8,000 buy-in and HK$2 million prize pool guarantee.

High stakes players won't be disappointed with three big buy-in events on deck: HK$50,000 NLH (February 11), HK$100,000 Single Day High Roller (February 13), and HK$80,000 High Roller (February 17).

The opening weekend for MPC26 has been given a makeover with the HK$3,000 Kickoff (300k GTD, re-entry) opener and HK$10,000 NLH (1m GTD) launching the exciting new schedule.

The previous MPC attracted more than 7,000 participants and awarded nearly HK48 million (USD $6.2 million). MPC26 is sure to biggest and richest ever!

Macau Poker Cup 26 begins on Friday, February 3.
