Manila Megastack 6: A New Beginning

The sixth edition of the Manila Megastack (November 29 - December 4) is now underway and the six-day poker festival not only marks the end of APPT Season 10, but also serves as the last ever event under the Asia Pacific Poker Tour soon-to-be-dissolved banner.

Coincidentally, the first ever APPT event was also held in Manila back in 2007 and as we say our farewells to the beloved tour, we also usher in a new beginning.

Let's start with the familiar. PokerStars LIVE cardrooms will retain their signature events. That means that PokerStars LIVE Macau will continue with the hugely successful Macau Poker Cup and ACOP series; and, as you may have guessed, PokerStars LIVE Manila will continue with the surging Manila Megastack series.

The former APPT events will be rebranded either PokerStars Championship or PokerStars Festival and promise an even higher standard than the European Poker Tour's already-high-standard achieves.

Jack Wu's coronation as the 2016 Asia Player of the Year (APOY) meant the end of an epic APOY season. But it also means the 2017 APOY race has officially begun this week with Manila Megastack 6. What better way to begin 2017 than with a few comfy APOY points under your belt?

Joven Huerto, the Philippines' group winner of the 2016 Regional Asia Player of the Year, is certainly a player to look out for in the upcoming season and extremely likely to make an appearance at the Manila Megastack.

Bruno Tzu Chieh Lo won the last Manila Megastack Main Event after defeating a 478-entrant field. It's unclear if the former-poker pro will return to defend his title as the now-turned businessman previously mentioned a very short poker schedule given his other commitments.
