WSOP Event #5: Joe Hachem still alive

Don't miss Rizen's final table appearance

Friday was a day for the cream to rise to the top. Event #5 of the World Series of Poker was a $2,500 short-handed No-Limit Hold'em event. The event fell right in the wheelhouse of the top professionals. PokerStars saw many of its players make the money, including Terrence Chan and Vanessa Rousso.

It was 2005 World Series of Poker champion Joe Hachem, however, who survived through most of the field to make it to Day 2 of the event.

Hachem will join approximately 50 other top players at 2pm on Saturday to fight down to the final table. Hachem has been solid all day long and looks to make a good run, barring bad luck or a cold run of cards.

In other news, another big field is expected for Event #6 ($2,000 NL) on Saturday. In attendance will be none other than Greg "Fossilman" Raymer. He'll be playing for a number of reasons, but the big field is going to be one of the biggest draws for the 2004 WSOP champ.

After Raymer cashed in Event #2, he maintained his status as the only poker player to cash in every 2000+ player field in poker history. Since tomorrow looks like it will host 2,000 players, Raymer is looking to make another cash.
