WSOP Main Event Day 5: Last woman sitting
With all due respect to the people who follow these things, we must take some issue with the concept with the honor of "last woman standing" in a poker tournament. I mean, first, there are some women who might take issue with the fact that they are being singled out as women in the first place. Second, and this might be more important (we are 30% pendants on the PokerStars Blog) isn't the honor really Last Woman Sitting?
In any case, all the talk right now is about the breezily named Breeze Zuckerman, one of the two women remaining in the 2010 WSOP Main Event.
Zuckerman looks as if she might just be the last women to finish this event. She has a lot more chips than the very short-stacked Dorothy VonSachsen.
Zuckerman is a life coach and owns a consulting company in Bakersfield, California. She is the type of woman who has been known to ask questions like, "Why is it that women get so much abuse in Poker Room? Is it for the same reason men get a little bit of crap in Bingo Rooms?"
Now, among the people who really hope for women to make a deep run in the WSOP, the idea that Zuckerman could earn the honor today is a little sad. Most folks are hoping for this to go on for a while.
Meanwhile, our buddies over at Wicked Chops are readying their Last Woman Standing trophy. We're hoping they don't notice when we sneak up to their desk and use a crayon to change "Standing" to "Sitting."
Stop press: As the publishing engines were firing on this post, VonSachsen busted, leaving Zuckerman, indeed, as the last woman sitting.
