by Alex Villegas

The EPT has grown like a pleasurable virus throughout Europe. Its infected places such as Prague, Dortmund and Deauville with poker players and hefty buy-ins. It’s grown strong enough to make its way across the Atlantic to an island by the name of Paradise.

The PCA is, for many players, their first EPT event and they’re enjoying it. Several of them don’t want their EPT experience to end and are willing to follow it back across the Atlantic to it’s ultimate stop–the $15,000 buy-in grand final in Monte Carlo. PokerStars never misses an opportunity to help players on their way. Twenty feet from the PCA main event, twenty players are battling for one seat at the Grand Final in Monte Carlo.

PokerStars held a $1,100 rebuy satellite that attracted 20 players and 14 rebuys, good enough for one package valued at $18,800 and a second place cash prize of $14,665. PokerStars has offered to add a few bucks to second place to give the player a seat in the Grand Final.

There is no one way to determine a year’s worth, but if a person can put a Caribbean and Mediterranean stamp in their passport, it’s going to be a good 2009 by any measure.
