We are just a little more than 12 days from the start of spring’s biggest tournament series. Beginning on May 8 at 10am, the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker will kick off with $25 million in guaranteed prize money.

PokerStars has just announced that the start times for the events have been altered to better fit the European sleeping schedule. All events have now been backed up by three hours from their original starting times. Now, all you folks in Madrid, Copenhagen, and Oslo will be able to catch some z’s at more regular hours.

Owning to recent events about which you might have heard, the guarantees of some events have changed from the original schedule. You can check out the full list of guarantees, start times, and events at the 2011 SCOOP tournaments page. Other than that and some changes to the late-night Tuesday tournaments, SCOOP is still the same tournament series you’ve come to expect, including the sweet watches that will be awarded to all champions.

In addition to the bling, there is quite a bit of added value to the tournament series. The 2011 SCOOP Leader Board will crown a Player of the Series this year and offer some big prizes to the people who finish on top. Here’s what the top three SCOOP Leader Board finishers will pick up in addition to prize money.

1st–Player of the Series trophy, 2011 WCOOP Main Event ticket, 2012 PCA prize package, EPT Grand Final prize package, and a special edition PokerStars chip set
2nd–2011 WCOOP Main Event ticket, 2012 PCA prize package and a special edition PokerStars chip set
3rd–2011 WCOOP Main Event ticket and a special edition PokerStars chip set
SCOOP runs May 8-22 with 38 events, 114 tournaments (three buy-in levels for each event).

Satellites for SCOOP events continue with qualifier buy-ins as low as 25¢. Click on EVENTS > SCOOP > and CASH SATELLITES to get in on the cheap, then join us for those two weeks in May when SCOOP takes over.

See you then!
