Alex Chieng has been chipping up and is now up to 122,000.
First he had a double up.
Tetsuya Tsuchikawa and Chieng got it all-in preflop and Chieng tabled A♣ J♦ to Tsuchikawa’s Kâ™ J♣ .
The board came 9♣ 4♦ 3♣ J♥ 5â™ and Chieng’s stack grew to about 70,000.
After taking down another small pot, Chieng won a large, preflop confrontation.
After a raise to 3,500 from middle position, Chieng re-raised to 12,500 from the hijack. Action folded back to the initial raiser, who made it 34,000.
Chieng thought for some time and then moved all-in.
Chieng’s opponent wasn’t pleased and then folded after a couple of breaths.
Chieng was up to 122,000.
At the same time, one table over, the other Day 1A survivor was busting. Iori Yogo moved all-in with ace-king but had the misfortune of running into A♣ A♦ . No help came for Yogo and he was eliminated from Day 1A.
K.C. Wong, our chip leader, continued to bust players and chip up. Wong raised to 9,000 from middle position and Mayruh Aggarwal moved all-in from the cutoff. Wong called and showed Q♥ Q♣ to Aggarwal’s 2♣ 2♥ .
There was an 8♥ [7]9♥ 4♥ 8â™ board and the tournament lost another player while Wong’s stack grew to 138,000.
Fifteen players remain. Play stops at 10.
