They 7 percent are back.

After a week of re-buy and re-entry madness, a record-breaking field of 1,804 entries has been reduced to just 121. The 2014 Macau Millions featured a unique format. There were six Day 1s, all with one re-entry.

The cost was HKD $2,200 a bullet. Play wouldn’t stop until the field got reduced to just 7 percent. Only those in the top 7 percent would cash and make it to Day 2. They were guaranteed HKD $8,000 for cashing but wouldn’t have to wait until Day 2 to make more money.

All players — bustees and survivors — were allowed to play as many Day 1s as their hearts and wallets could take. Those who survived an additional Day 1 got a HKD $11,000 bonus while their largest stack went on to Day 2.

In total, seven players qualified twice, including Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang, who’ll start Day 2 with 188,000.

Team PokerStars Pro Vivian Im also made it to the top 7 percent. While she only qualified once, she’s fifth in chips with 294,000.

Leading the whole field is Tai Tan, who accumulated a monster stack of 364,500 on Day 1B. No one was able to surpass Tan — even on the record-breaking Day 1F — but Terry Fan came the closest with 346,500.

All players are guaranteed HKD $8,000 and our eventual champion will take home HKD $550,000. We’ll get pretty close and narrow the list of contenders down to just ten.

The tournament has been tinkered with and play is now at level 1, with 2,000/4,000 blinds and a 500 ante.
