2021 World College Poker Championship Main Event registration now open

It might be summer time. But class is about to be in session for poker-playing college students around the world. That’s because the 2021 World College Poker Championship Main Event in only a week-and-a-half away, presented by the World College Poker (WCP) and PokerStars.net.

College students aged 18 and over who have valid student ID and are currently enrolled at college, university, or vocational school are invited to register and participate. Those who have graduated from college recently (within the last three months) are invited play, too!

Registration for the 2021 World College Poker Championship Main Event is now open

The World College Poker Championship Main Event is a global competition, starting with players divided into six global regions. (Note: players from Spain, Italy, Portugal, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and New Jersey cannot participate in the WCP events on PokerStars.net, per local regulations.)

The tournament will last four rounds, the first of which happens on Saturday, July 24. Here are how (and when) the different rounds will play out:

  • Round One (July 24) — Players around the globe will compete in a first-round tournament exclusive to their region. In each of the six regions they’ll play down to 50 players, with those 300 players advancing.
  • Round Two (July 31) — Those who are left will compete together in a second-round tournament. This time the field will be whittled down to 45 players who will chip stacks to the next round.
  • Round Three (August 7) — The 45 remaining will play down to a final table of six players.
  • Round Four, Final Table (TBA) — The final six will play down to a 2021 World College Poker Main Event Champion. The final table will either be live (restrictions permitting) or online. Details to come!

A ton of prizes will be awarded in the tournament. And remember… it’s totally free to play!

The winner will receive a PokerStars European Poker Tour package worth about €8,000 along with an engraved PokerStars trophy.

The champ will also get poker gear, subscriptions, and other packages provided by the event’s many corporate sponsors. On top of that, the winner will get to play some more poker, too, in a heads-up match against high-stakes pro Patrik Antonius! (Details on that match to come.)

There are several prizes for the runner-up as well. One is a three-day trip to Las Vegas for a live poker training session with poker pro Matt Berkey‘s Solve for Why Academy. The second-place finisher will also get a one-hour lesson with poker pro Jonathan Little of PokerCoaching.com as well as other packages and gear.

All six of the players making the final table will receive a custom gaming chair, free memberships to Solve for Why (12 months) and PokerCoaching.com (6 months), a copy of Bill Perkins’ best-selling book Die With Zero, plus other prizes.

The top 16 finishers will get two decks of Faded Spade playing cards plus a one-year Solve For Why TV all-access pass. Meanwhile the top 45 will all get PokerStars swag bags, including a PokerStars/WCP hoodie. There are some “Last Woman Standing” prizes as well.
