3pm: Tan out, Fan leads
It’s been a tough level for the Singaporean contingent in the APPT Cebu Main Event with PokerStars Player Ivan Tan joining his compatriot Bryan Huang on the rail.
Tan was all-in pre-flop for about 22,000 holding Aâ™ Qâ™ and found himself up against K♥ J♥ of Ty Nguyen. A king on the flop of the board that ran out 10â™ K♦ 6♦ 2♦ 7♣ was enough to end Tan’s tournament.
Midway through level 10 on day two, 93 players remain, meaning 60 players have already been eliminated today, and we’re 53 spots short of the money. Terry Fan of Taipei remains the chip leader on 180,000.
2.45pm: Huang joins Lin on rail
The hopes of father-son combo Bryan Huang and Yow Hui (Jack) Ng emulating the feat of Eric and Assadour Assadourian, who both cashed in the APPT Auckland Main Event, have ended.
PokerStars.net Team Asia Pro Bryan Huang is out of the APPT Cebu Main Event after tangling unsuccessfully with Bold Uundai. Huang check-raised to 18,000 on a flop of 2♣ K♣ 7♣ , with Uundai making the call.
Huang bet the turn 5♦ , with Uundai along for the ride, then the Mongolian pushed all-in on the river 6♣ . Huang called, and Uundai shrieked “nuts” as he slammed down A♣ 10♥ . That leaves Celina Lin and Raymond Wu to wave the Team Asia flag.
2.30pm: Lin’s eights lose race
PokerStars.net Team Asia Pro Jonathan Lin’s day has finally come to an end after being eliminated by the Russian Federation’s Alexeev Dmitry. “I moved all in for about 23,000 with pocket eights, (Dmitry) called me from the big blind with A-Q,” he recalled. “I lost the flip, pretty standard I guess.”
The big pots keep coming at table three where Bryan Huang has just bolted to almost 80,000 in chips after he shoved all in on a board of 10♦ 9♥ Q♣ K♣ 2♦ . Uundai Bolt agonised before folding, which allowed Huang some breathing space after his roller coaster ride through the opening two hours of play.
Then Huang, Uudnai and Brian Bumpas tangled in a three-way pot just before the players were sent on the first break of the day. We caught the action on a flop that read 10♣ Q♥ A♠; Huang checked from early position to Uudnai who opened for 5000.
Bumpas called from the button, as did Huang and the trio went to the turn of the 5â™ . Huang checked again, but would fold after Bumpas called Uudnai’s bet of 10,000. Uudnai and Bumpas both checked the river 8♥ ; Bumpas’ A♥ 2♥ for two pair was good enough and Uudnai mucked.
