Home / Uncategorized / APPT7 Macau: Hitting the ground running

Action is under way on Day 1B in Macau. It’s past 3.01pm so of course it is. (They run a tight ship here.) But in truth, action has been under way for quite some time as a last-chance turbo satellite kicked off a couple of hours ago, promising another five people entry to this event on the cheap.

A lot is made of the notion of running good in poker, and last-chance satellite winners are therefore always a dangerous proposition in the main events. They will already be in the zone having been playing, and winning, in the hours immediately prior to the tournament, and with a little bit of adjustment for stack sizes and structure, long may the run continue.

Registration here is open for the first four hours of play, which is actually more than half of the seven-hour day. Those satellite winners, whose identity we’ll establish in the coming hour or so, will be joining the 168 who were already seated at the starting klaxon.

The list of players already includes the two remaining Team Asia Pros, Bryan Huang and Vivian Im, the latter of which is sitting beside Lacey Jones. Jordan Westmorland is here, as is Raden Kan and Juicy Li.

“Just a reminder, this is not re-entry, you get one go only,” said Danny McDonagh over the microphone, within the first 20 minutes, perhaps in response to the obvious eagerness evident of players to get their chips in already. It will be one of those days.

A reminder on how to follow our coverage from Macau. There is hand-by-hand coverage at the top of the main APPT Macau page, which includes chip counts. Feature coverage will filter in beneath the panel. All the information about the Asia Pacific Poker Tour is on the APPT site, and PokerStars Macau also has its own home.
