The official prize pool and payouts have been announced for the 2013 APPT Queenstown Main Event. We saw 40 runners on Day 1a, another 39 on Day 1b and then a healthy 47 today on Day 1c to combine for a total number of 126 entrants for the NZ$3,000 Main Event.

That’s down a little on the 149 from last year but still a strong result in today’s poker climate.

The prize pool of NZ$340,200 will be shared among the top fifteen players with our champion set to receive NZ$93,600 in prize money. Full prize breakdown is as follows (in NZ dollars):

1st $93,600.00
2nd $59,550.00
3rd $34,900.00
4th $28,900.00
5th $23,800.00
6th $19,550.00
7th $16,150.00
8th $12,750.00
9th $10,200.00
10th $7,650.00
11th $7,650.00
12th $7,650.00
13th $5,950.00
14th $5,950.00
15th $5,950.00

There are several notable players still in contention on Day 1c and one of those is the defending champion in Dave Allan. An unassuming character at the table, Allan is quietly going about the defence of his crown to attempt to become the first to win back-to-back titles. He’s sitting with around 38,000.

Another looking secure more silverware to the cabinet is Kiwi Geoff Smith. The ANZPT Auckland champion is our current Day 1c chip leader with 75,000.

The other piece of news we have is that tomorrow we’ll be playing one combined Day 2 field instead of the originally scheduled split two flights. The rate of attrition has been so high in this event that we’ll be able to fit everyone inside the poker room, with use of two extra overflow tables out on the main gaming floor. Already today we’re down to just 23 players with one more level to go for the day. Day 2 will now start at 2pm with an anticipated five or six levels to be played.
