What table am I on?

It’s a question that is invariably asked at the media desk at the start of every Day 2 I have ever covered as a blogger.

That is no different here at the APPT8 Macau Main Event.

Most often, the players that are asking this question are more of your carefree players, perhaps recreational even. The kind of players that didn’t find it necessary to log on to the PokerStarsBlog the night before and study their table draw, hoping to find out any precious information about their competitors that they can. Perhaps they have so much confidence in their ability that they don’t need to find out that extra information.

This afternoon, as we near the start of Day 2, several players have asked me to look up where they are sitting. They walked straight into PokerStars LIVE at the City of Dreams and straight over to the media desk.

Others, like they were on a mission, walked straight to their seat, ripped open their bag, began stacking their chips and got comfortable, ready for a (hopefully) long day at the felt.

The kind of players that went straight to their seats were the likes of Team PokerStars Pros Bryan Huang, Celina Lin and Raymond Wu.

They have done this whole Day 2 thing before.

Bryan Huang will need to run it up on Day 2

Lin and Wu were lucky enough to even find themselves seated next to each other. Great to catch up and have a chat at the table, but not so great to have a fierce competitor on your left, or even your right.

Another player who walked straight over to his stack today was chip leader Bo “Box” Xie. He doesn’t have too much to stress about just yet as he will kick off the day with 166,000 in chips – a monster stack in comparison to the 500/1,000 blinds that we are currently playing. It’s also plenty more than his nearest competitors Alvan Zhang (151,400), Bobbe Suri (149,500), Jiajun Liu (142,800) and Peter Chan (141,000).

With exactly 206 players still alive heading into Day 2 it is no surprise that there are dozens of notables still in contention including ANZPT Sydney champ Michael Kanaan, APPT Cebu champ Hoang Anh Do, Daniel Laidlaw, Billy “The Croc” Argyros, Victor Chong and Victor Teng, just to name a few.

All of these players, and everyone still involved in the action, will be hoping to make it into the top 60 as that’s when the money starts being distributed. The plan is to play seven and a half levels today and we may just get near the bubble. You will have to stay locked here at the PokerStarsBlog to find out!
