APPT9 Aussie Millions Day 3: Bursting for money

January 28, 2015

Day 3 of the Aussie Millions Main event – the dreaded bubble day.

Well, dreaded for some.

For others, today is about securing cash and putting themselves in the best position to make a run at the title. And the $1.6 million that the eventual champion will take home.

Money, money, money

The good news is that more than half of the 135 returning players will make the money.

It’s the top 72 who will lock up at least $15,000.

For 63 others it will be a different story.

A bad beat story, perhaps.

And that’s not to mention that unfortunate player who ends up in 73rd place.

One player who is unlikely to end up stressing about the bubble is Jan Suchanek.

Jan Suchanek

Not only was Suchanek the leader on Day 1a, he managed to do it again on Day 2.

He begins Day 3 with 483,900 with the next closest player having only a little over 400,00.

Suchanek has a great record at the Aussie Millions and is clearly in good form having finished third in the $2,500 H.O.R.S.E event last week.

Not too surprisingly, Suchanek isn’t going to have Day 3 easy with opponents like WSOP APAC bracelet winner AJ Antonios, reigning Aussie Millions champ Ami Barer, Grant Levy, Benny Spindler, Ismael Bojang and Philipp Gruissem and Phil Ivey all having plenty of chips to be big threats.

Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang is also still alive and happens to be the only player from the red spade stable still in contention for the title.

Here is how the top ten stacks look to start the day:

Jan Suchanek – 483,900
Keanu Simpson – 403,000
James Rann – 382,000
Michael Pedley – 376,700
Andrew Chen – 344,400
Wai Tung Lo – 340,000
AJ Antonios – 329,000
Grant Levy – 324,500
Rahul Byrraju – 321,400
Michael Addamo – 321,100

The plan on Day 3 is to play seven 90-minute levels with 15-minute breaks after every level and a dinner beak after four levels.

At some point during that period the bubble will burst!
